I have been very fortunate with the opportunities I have had in my life. Of course hard work mixed with being in the right place at the right time had a lot to do with it, but I would be lying if I said that I did it all by myself without any help. The fact is there were a lot of people along the way that help clear the brush and get me where I needed to go.
I am a big believer in returning the favor which is why it’s been important for me to label myself as a “Do-Gooder.” It reminds me that my purpose in life doesn’t just end with me and my family. It can’t be. I must give back to others in one way or another. Whether it is to help someone get where they need to go, raising money for a good cause or donating my self or my services to an organization that needs them. Below are just a few of the ways I have given back over the years.
Marc’s Ride
In order to make a difference in this world you have to go the distance. Welcome to Marc’s Ride…where 270 miles on a bicycle for 3 days will help find a cure for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
I committed to not only complete the ride, but to raise $15 per mile in order to help beat ALS…that’s $4,050!!! With a successful benefit dinner and help from sponsors like Clif Bar, The New Jersey Devils, Jack Canfield, Stop and Shop, The Melting Pot and MANY others, I was able to raise $4,285 and complete the ride!
Sound-n-Vision
For the past 10 years Sound-n-Vision has been working with companies large and small in an effort to help small, medium and large businesses take their companies to the next level using the Internet. What you may not know is that we also do a lot of work for non-profit organizations, donating much of our time and services in order to help them build a better web presence. Save the Internet
Sound-n-Vision has recently launched a new initiative to rid the world of all craptastic websites! That’s right, we are going to clean up the Internet one website at a time! The winner of the most craptastic website is going to receive a free custom designed website and 1 year of search engine optimization that will turn their business around! I’m not sure if this is considered “Do-Gooder” worthy, but it is a really fun promotion! For more information, visit www.craptasticwebsites.com
